The consulting firm BiGlobal highlighted the importance of Mercosur for Argentina's foreign policy and its industrial development. On the other hand, the Rosario Stock Exchange communicated that Argentina is advancing in negotiations with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), resulting in a positive balance in trade exchange with this bloc. Both Mercosur and these new discussions with the EFTA are shaping up as fundamental elements for the country's economic future.

During the opening of ordinary sessions of Congress, Argentine President Javier Milei expressed his interest in establishing a 'trade agreement' with the United States. However, this possibility seems distant at a time when Argentina requires support from the IMF and other international entities. In his speech, Milei also raised the possibility of exiting Mercosur, indicating that the current agreement has favored large Brazilian industrialists to the detriment of the Argentine economy.

The possibility of reaching treaties related to defense and the legal security of investments has been suggested by sources close to U.S. companies and the Republican government. Milei has emphasized the need to relax trade relations and has even proposed leaving Mercosur. On the other hand, experts like Fabián Calle have indicated that the current focus should be on attracting investments and infrastructure, proposing the signing of strategic agreements in key sectors such as oil, gas, and software to attract foreign investments.

Despite Argentine exports being affected by recent tariff policies, the United States remains one of the main investors in Argentina, with notable investments in the oil and gas sector. There is some uncertainty regarding the possibility of reaching a trade agreement with the United States, as the Trump administration is not seeking new free trade agreements but rather fair and equitable deals, according to Mauricio Claver-Carone, special envoy of the State Department for Latin America.

The analysis of the economic situation and the prospects for future trade agreements indicates the complexity of Argentina's position in a context of global uncertainty. The strategy proposed by Milei of approaching the U.S. is being meticulously evaluated, considering the possible impacts on the country's international and commercial relations.
